World Environment Day 2023: Join Us in the Fight Against Climate Change
Monte Rosa is proud to support World Environment Day 2023, an annual event celebrated on June 5th, aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues and encouraging global action to protect the planet.
This year’s theme is #BeatPlasticPollution which highlights the urgent need to address environmental degradation and its impact on our world. With the ongoing battle against climate change, the importance of safeguarding our environment has become even more evident, as we have seen drastic changes in air quality, wildlife habitats, and global weather patterns due to human activity.
According to the United Nations, every year, the world produces around 400 million tonnes of plastic waste, which is equivalent to the weight of the entire human population. Shockingly, less than 10% of this plastic waste is recycled, and the rest ends up in landfills, oceans, and other natural habitats, polluting our planet and harming wildlife. Our goal as Monte Rosa is to recycle 26 million kgs of plastic by 2030.
Approximately 1 million animal and plant species are at risk of extinction, and global temperatures have increased by 1.1°C since pre-industrial times, causing sea levels to rise and extreme weather events to become more frequent. World Environment Day 2023 presents an opportunity to take collective action and work towards a sustainable future.
At Monte Rosa, we believe that every individual possesses the enate ability to help in the fight against plastic pollution. Each contribution counts no matter the size.
Monte Rosa creates a full circle of plastic recycling in many ways such as taking the recycled plastic they produce, and manufacturing it into pipes, household products like chairs, and Buffo Bin Bags – The Strong One, all made from 100% recycled plastic.
